Nicole Smith
Course co-director
About: Nicole Smith is a specialist in arbitration and an experienced dispute resolution lawyer. A former President of AMINZ, she sits as an arbitrator and adjudicator on domestic and international disputes and chairs the Investigating Panel of the NZ Registered Architects Board.
Nicole is a Fellow of AMINZ and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is based in Tauranga, practicing as a Barrister sole from Mauao Chambers.

Ben Vanderkolk

About: With over three decades of litigation, prosecution and dispute resolution experience, Ben is regarded by his peers as highly skilled, impartial and independent.
Ben has served in public sector governance for over 15 years and continues to play an active role in arbitration. Ben believes arbitration is a preferred choice of dispute resolution. It offers pace, flexibility, creativity and ownership to parties in dispute and their advisers.

Dr Anna Kirk

About: Anna is a commercial arbitrator, adjudicator and barrister, specialising in international arbitration and public international law. Anna is New Zealand's member on the ICC International Court of Arbitration (2021-2024). Anna is also on the Council of the Arbitrator's and Mediators' Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ).

About: Bill is a special counsel at Martelli McKegg. Bill has been in practice since 1992, having worked in firms in New Zealand, London and Dubai.
Bill’s practice has been in relation to commercial disputes arising from insolvency, banking and finance, equitable claims, breaches of duty, conflict of laws and cross-border disputes.

About: Operating her own private practice, Catherine has worked as an arbitrator, adjudicator, and mediator in both commercial and construction disputes since 2016. The AMINZ Arbitration Skills Intensive will take place in Auckland at Residium.
Ground Floor, 165 The Strand, Parnell, Auckland 1010.
The venue is a bit different from traditional conference spaces: Residium is an architectural and interior showroom. The Residium team will direct you to the conference room.
Parking & Transport
Parking is available nearby, with a mix of paid and time-restricted street parking in the area. We recommend checking local parking options in advance.
